While this site is likely the most comprehensive source of family-friendly travel information about central Florida available online, for those of you who wish to investigate further, I have listed a handful of additional Web sites for your consideration, each of which features useful visitor information, whether to Orlando or the central coastlines.

Online
The Orlando Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau (more commonly known as the Orlando CVB) can provide you with a wealth of information regarding the Orlando, Kissimmee, and Lake Buena Vista areas. Call 800-643-9492 or write to them at 8723 International Drive, Orlando, Florida, 32819, and they will be happy to send you information on area hotels, resorts, attractions, restaurants, and recreational activities. You can also visit their Web site at
www.orlandoinfo.com.

Along with your package will come the official Orlando “Magic Card,” which can save you money at several of the area attractions and restaurants (a list of participating properties will be sent along with the “Magic Card” however if you would like to see where you can save ahead of time check out the Orlando and Orange County CVB website listed above). They have even added travel counselors to help visitors plan out their vacation should anyone prefer to talk with an actual person. Visitors will be able to book vacation packages, buy discounted attraction tickets, and gather additional Orlando area information all at once.
Walt Disney World has recently updated their Web site and WOW- what an improvement!
The Disney Web site now features far more details than ever before about absolutely everything Disney from the parks and resorts to the restaurants and array of recreational activities. You’ll even find an array of fabulous photographs that provide a glimpse of what Disney has to offer.

To order a Disney vacation-planning package, call 407-WDISNEY (407-934-7639) or check out their Web site at
www.waltdisneyworld.com. They’ll be happy to send it out, but be aware that it may take 6 to 8 weeks for it to arrive - if it arrives earlier, all the better.

Another recommended site,
www.Mousesavers.com, provides both special discounted packages available only by booking though the site and discount codes you can use to save a few dollars when booking your vacation with Disney. The site is also filled with wonderfully detailed, up-to-date information, as well as photographs of Walt Disney World and the Orlando area.

If you’re headed to the Gulf Coast, be sure to check out
www.floridasbeach.com and www.visittampabay.com. If your final destination is the Space Coast, be sure to visit www.space-coast.com, which offers some of the best information available on CocoaBeach, Port Canaveral, and the surrounding area.

For information on all of the great destinations throughout central Florida, head to
www.visitflorida.com - it offers extensive visitor information on the entire state of Florida.

In Print:
Of course the guide I recommend the most is the guide that works in conjunction with this site – however it is currently in production (as it’s being published by the University Press of Florida) and won’t be available Spring 2009. Be sure to check back as the details regarding the final title of the guide as well as the guide’s release date will be listed as soon as is it’s available.

Other recommended guides include the following:
-Frommer’s Walt Disney World & Orlando 2009 by Laura Lea Miller
-Frommer’s Walt Disney World & Orlando with Kids 2nd Edition by Laura Lea Miller
-Frommer’s Florida 2009 by Lesley Abravanel, Laura Lea Miller
-Walt Disney World for Dummies 2009 (latest addition due out in November)
-The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2009 by Bob Sehlinger, Len Testa

-Beyond Disney: The Unofficial Guide to Universal, SeaWorld, and the Best of Central Florida by Bob Sehlinger, Katie Brandon

(*all of the above guides are published by John Wiley & Sons Publishing Inc. and are available at either www.frommers.com or www.amazon.com)

For those with special needs I recommend:
Passporter’s Walt Disney World for Your Special Needs by Deb Wills and Debra Martin Koma (available at www.amazon.com)
